Outline
Mechanical engineering is one of the world’s broadest and most versatile disciplines, giving you the skills to design, analyse, and develop systems that power modern life – from micromechanical devices and turbines to transport and biomedical technologies.
At Curtin University Colombo, you’ll gain a globally recognised degree accredited by Engineers Australia, combining strong theoretical foundations with hands-on industry experience.
Mechanical engineering covers a wide spectrum of applications, from system conception, design, manufacturing, maintenance, and management, through to micromechanical devices, power‑generating turbines, thermal power generation, and air and transport systems. The discipline also extends into emerging areas such as renewable energy and biomedical engineering, making it one of the most versatile and globally relevant fields of study.
In your final year, you’ll complete an individual research project, preparing you for professional practice and global career opportunities in industries such as automotive, aerospace, energy, manufacturing, and biomedical engineering.
